New Year, New Internet. Why you need UTOPIA Fiber and How to get installed – UTOPIA Fiber (2024)

New Year means new internet and not settling for less when it comes to your internet speeds! When you sign up for UTOPIA Fiber, you can rest easy knowing that you are getting the fastest and most reliable connection. If that doesn’t sell you, here are some other reasons you should make the switch to UTOPIA Fiber:

First, we operate on an open-access model. This means that we provide the infrastructure to bring fiber to your area and then let local Internet Service Providers deliver their services over our network. This puts the power of choice in your hands, and we now have over 16+ ISPs to choose from (check them out here)! The best part? If you try an ISP and you aren’t satisfied with their services, switching to another ISP is a breeze. Just give us a call, and we will get you switched over. This open-access network also promotes healthy competition, which saves you money!

Second, not only are we reliable, but we are blazingly fast. We connect you up to the internet with the world’s fastest dedicated fiber optic cable. This gives you all the speed and bandwidth you will ever need. We offer a variety of plans to fit whatever speeds you need, whether that is 250 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps, we’ve got you covered! If you are a business, we can even connect you up to 100 Gbps!

Third, having fiber installed in your home can increase your property value! That’s right, having fiber connected to your home can increase its value! A recent survey showed that having a fiber connection can significantly increase the perceived value of your home. What’s even better? There are no installation costs, so getting you connected is going to cost you nothing! All you need to worry about is the monthly cost of $30 a month to UTOPIA Fiber + whatever your ISP cost is (this will vary depending on the plan you choose with them).

Hopefully, by now you are now convinced that UTOPIA Fiber is for you, but how do you sign up? We are so glad you asked. Here is a play-by-play of how to sign up and what happens from contract to install!

The first thing you need to do is to make sure UTOPIA Fiber is available in your area. To do this all you need to do is go to our website here and type in your address. It will let you know immediately if your house is available for connection!

Once you know if you can connect, you will need to choose which ISP you want to work with and which service plan you want from them! We do all the heavy lifting to make the process as easy as possible, you don’t need to contact your chosen ISP to get set up. All you need to do is let us know who you want to work with, what plan you want and we will reach out to them and take care of all the setup. You can find all the residential pricing options from our ISPs here.

The next step is your contract. Once you have called or have gone to www.utopiafiber.com to choose your ISP and services, we will send you a contract reflecting all the details about your service. This includes your UTOPIA Fiber contract and your ISP contract. You will need to review this contract, digitally sign it, and send us back the signed copy.

After you have signed your contract, our team will contact you within 24 business hours to schedule your install and site survey. A site survey is an extra step where we send out a technician to survey your property and inform you of your options for fiber and modem placement. (The site survey is completely optional). If you choose to do a site survey, we will send our technician to meet up with you, and from there, you and the technician can decide the best way to go about doing your install. If you have a preference of where you want your fiber to come into your home we highly suggest getting a site survey.

There are two kinds of installation methods when it comes to our fiber lines; they are underground installation and overheard installation. Here is a brief overview of each one

Underground Installation

If you have an underground installation the first thing we do (if you choose to not have a site survey) is to send Blue Stakes out to your property to mark all major utility lines to prepare for conduit installation. Your conduit is what will house your fiber line underground and is installed at the curb of your home. Once Blue Stakes has marked your property, we will dispatch our conduit crew who will then install your conduit. If you choose not to do a site survey, our team will most likely feed your fiber through your cold air return, AC unit, or gas/power meter. The cold air return is always our first option, with the AC unit being our second option and the gas/power meter as a last resort. If you have any concerns about where you want your fiber to enter your house please schedule a site survey.

Overhead Installation:

When it comes to overhead installations we are feeding the fiber line into your home from overhead power poles. For this kind of installation, your fiber line will typically enter your home where the power attaches. If you have any concerns about where you want your fiber to enter your house please schedule a site survey.

Once your install is fully complete, you can connect your router to the ONT and begin to enjoy the fastest, most reliable high-speed internet in the country. If you need help picking out a router we have a list of ones we recommend here.

We hope this answers any questions you may have had about our installation process and why you should switch to UTOPIA Fiber today! If you have any more questions about our installation process please check out our website here.

Never settle for less when it comes to your internet, join the UTOPIA Fiber network today! If you have a question about something we didn’t cover, send us an email with your question to support@utopiafiber.com.
