The Story of UTOPIA Fiber
UTOPIA Fiber, also known as Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency, is an open-access fiber-optic network that was founded by 11 Utah cities in 2004 with the mission to bring fiber-optic connection to every resident and business in their communities!
Since its inception in 2004, UTOPIA Fiber has expanded to include 20 Utah cities, 3 operational partners and we aren’t done yet! We continue working hard to expand our network to make high-speed internet accessible and affordable for all of our communities.

We don’t believe in sharing, at least when it comes to your internet bandwidth! That’s why every home on the UTOPIA Fiber network has a dedicated fiber line straight from our hub to your home! This means you never have to share your fiber-fast speeds with anyone else on our network and you can kiss lagging during peak usage hours goodbye!

We are owned by the communities we serve! Our network is one that was chosen by Utah communities for Utah communities, and we remain dedicated to providing them with the fastest high-speed internet available.

With residential speeds of up to 10 Gbps and business speeds of up to 100 Gbps, our network is designed to be compatible with technology as it continues to evolve. This structure minimizes the risk of obsolescence by having the ability to accommodate increasing internet needs as they emerge.

We operate in an open-access model, which means we provide the infrastructure and then let other Internet Service Providers deliver their services to you over that network. Think of us like an airport, we provide the hanger, runways, and gates while the Internet Service Providers provide the flight services. This gives you the power to choose the Internet Service Provider that best suits your needs.
