Four years ago is when I decided to take a step backwards in order to launch myself forward. Four months after that, I was accepted into my intended program. For those of you that know my story, I rarely take no for an answer and this was certainly not one of those times. I decided it was time to stop making excuses for myself, stop self sabotaging, and take full advantage of when the world got quiet. Four years later, I can truly say that serving others has brought me so much meaning and I am fulfilling what I was truly meant to do here on Earth.

As one grows in one's career, it's important to pass on knowledge and expertise to the younger generations coming into the field. It needs not saying that one day, you'll no longer be at the position or even the career you're in currently and someone will need to be there to replace you. It behooves us to prepare those that are in our wake for the day that they may take over for us. This is why it's so important to take the time and the resources away from your daily routine to pass on what you've learned and how you do things to those that are lesser- experienced. Leave a legacy of your work behind and do your best to train those around you and to take them under your wing as you progress.

My end of the day musings, if I may :)1) College pedigree, one of the labels is glorified and important but it cannot be an indicator of the kind of person you are. The way you treat people, your core values which govern your day to day work style, the way you carry yourself, your ability to deal with rough patches and pressure, the way you celebrate the success of others and so so much more. People will put all sorts of labels to categorise you but don't ever let your uniqueness get shadowed by those labels because it is only your uniqueness that has got you so far in the game. 2) My mum's friend is a diplomat representing another nationality in a different country. They have been awaiting a promotion for a long long time. Today evening, we got to know that they got promoted after 14 long years. Sometimes, it's about never ever giving up and just trusting the higher power that one day it'll all pay off!! 3) You got to celebrate the small wins, in fact you must. The amount of criticism that goes on in your head for your own self is difficult to control. The least you can do is tone it down and just pat yourself on the back :)In the picture: That's me at my desk, can you identify the props, they're all very dear to me!#surabhispeaks #thoughts

I should be my own example of what I want to be.Why?Reason is simple. Being my own example of what I want to be means showing the qualities and behaviors I admire and want to achieve. Instead of just hoping to be like others, I need to act in ways that reflect my values, like being honest, hardworking, kind, and strong. By doing this, I push myself to improve and reach my goals. Learning from my own successes and mistakes helps me get closer to the person I want to be. This way, I stay true to myself and grow, becoming a real example of the ideals I care about and the goals I aim for.Give it a try. I feel that it is easier to stay motivated when you picture your future-self and work backwards to achieve it.

How do you teach work ethic? Is it something you can instill, or is it just innate... maybe a little of both?As a recruiter and a parent of a pre-teen, I’m curious—anyone else navigating this phase? My daughter didn’t pass her science test, scoring a 68, and she has the option to retake it for a max grade of 70. Her response? "Why bother for just 2 points? It won’t even change my average by more than one point!"In my most motherly way, I said, "It’s not about the 2 points; it’s about showing up and putting in the effort, even when it feels pointless." (Cue the inevitable eye roll.)But really, as adults—whether it’s in our careers or life in general—we’re often faced with tasks that seem small or insignificant. But those little efforts build habits, trust, and ultimately, opportunities. They also prepare us for the other joys that come with adulting. So whether it’s retaking a test for 2 points or doing the "small stuff" at work, those little things can make a big difference in the long run.#RecruiterLife #Parenting #LifeLessons #Resilience #WorkEthic #TeachingValues

What do you think your ex-colleagues would say about you? have you left a valuable or impactfull principle, outcome, or a feeling. Leaving a career legacy requires a comprehensive understanding of your purpose and full self-awareness. Knowing that each task, conversation, or action contributes towards forming this legacy. Habit 2, begin with the end of mind is the best example of leaving a legacy. It tells us to start with a clear understanding of your destination. You need to know where you are going in order to better understand where you are now so that the steps you take are always in the right direction.#Legacy #Begin_with_the_end_in_mind #career_legacy

Yesterday, I had a conversation with someone who began with, "I am a [insert job title]..." It sparked a profound reflection on how frequently we define ourselves by our professions. But here's a thought worth considering: We are so much more than our job titles.Yes, our careers are a significant part of our lives—they shape our daily routines, influence our thought patterns, and often, our social circles. They are important. They should not define us. We are grandparents, whispering stories of yore to wide-eyed listeners; parents, guiding the next generation; spouses, partners in the dance of life; and children, cherished by those who brought us into this world. Most importantly, we are children of God, unique creations valued far beyond our professional achievements. As we strive for professional success, let's also cultivate a sense of worth that's rooted in who we are, not just what we do. IMPORTANT: This understanding does not diminish the importance of hard work. Working hard is our duty. Yet, it's essential to remember that while our careers are a duty we fulfill, they are not the sum total of our identity. #SelfWorth #ValueBeyondTitle #MoreThanMyJob #TrueValue #Identity #KnowYourWorth #BeyondTheJob #LifeGoals #PersonalGrowth #UniqueYou #Empowerment #NotJustATitle #WorthIt #FindYourValue #InnerValue #LifeBeyondWork #EmpowerYourself #YourTrueSelf #ValueYourself #BeyondTitles #RealWorth #SelfBelief #PersonalIdentity #YouMatter #OwnYourWorth Sheldon Krancher Michael Keeter Scott Borden Cassie Wilson Ty Prim Matthew Ray Scott Linda Reichman, RDH Jay Kirsch John Casciano Jonathan Bubar Joe Day

Importance of focusing on a mission rather than external factorsIt is important to remember that your job responsibilities and tasks are your main priority. While it's important to build relationships and learn from others, don't become too attached to a specific person, place, or company. Your main focus should be on your job and fulfilling your duties to the best of your abilities. At the end of the day, you are working to earn money, so always remain dedicated to your job and stay true to your responsibilities. Remember, your power and peace come from within and from fulfilling your mission and purpose, not from external factors.Connect me on Instagram: https://lnkd.in/gfTaQqSV#mission #externalfactors #jobresponsibilities #tasks #priority #relationships #learning #attachment #specificperson #place #company #focus #fulfillment #dedication #responsibilities #earnmoney #power #peace #within #purpose #true #fulfilling #mission #purpose #externalfactors

    Foundations for Success

In the esteemed words of Winston Churchill, 'Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.' Reflecting upon this monumental insight, I've realized its profound impact throughout my career transition from a musically inclined youth in Manchester to spearheading a novel referral program in the life assurance sector here in the Philippines. This quote encapsulates the essence of fearlessness and perseverance in the face of adversity, values that have steered my professional course. How does Churchill's testament to resilience resonate with your professional journey? I'd value your insights and experiences. #ProfessionalGrowth #Resilience #WinstonChurchill

Happy bright birthday, dear Greg!"If you were to meet teenager Greg, what recommendations would you give him for a harmonious journey through life?:·You are about to enter a multiple decade experience. Enjoy the ride.·Find a mentor. Be a mentor. Starting out, learn everything you can from your colleagues. Later in your career, return the favor and help develop and council those younger than you.·Seek balance between your professional and personal lives. This will not always be easy. You will have some missteps. That’s okay. It’s part of the process.·Try to exceed expectations. It’s better to under-promise and over-deliver rather than over-promise and under-deliver.·Aim to do everything well and with CARE. You should blend technical knowledge with a reputation for commitment and dependability.·Be persevering and patient. You will experience setbacks. You will be told no. Be willing to accept rejections. They can be superb learning experiences.·Be grateful for the blessings in your life.·Give back to your profession and community. Leave a legacy ofquality and caring."#transformation #leadershiplessons #genius #booksworthreading
