Rory McIlroy put himself into the conversation for the greatest golfer of all time after completing a career Grand Slam following his dramatic success at the Masters.
McIlroy followed Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods becoming only the sixth golfer to win all four majors.
The 35-year-old has long been an inspiration for sportsmen and women from Northern Ireland with a fellow County Down man delighted to see his success at Augusta National.
Rhys McClenaghan has hit the heights in his own sport of gymnastics with countless wins, and he capped it off with Olympic gold as the Paris Games last summer becoming Ireland’s first ever Olympic gold medal gymnast.
But like McIlroy, McClenaghan isn't done just yet. He has set his sights on on a fourth European title and a third World title, which would put him in contention as the greatest of all time in his discipline.
“The next World Championships are in October and at the end of May are the European Championships, too, which are very important as well," the 25-year-old told Red Bull.
"I’ll be aiming to retain my European title. I've won the last couple of years. Hopefully I’ll make it a fourth European title.”
“Well, that is definitely a goal of mine. It’d be awesome when you think about it. Nobody's ever won four world titles on pommel horse. There have been about five or six gymnasts who have got three, so that’s a really interesting statistic.
“I've got two world titles on pommel at the minute, so I need to get the third and then that'll put me into the position of being the greatest of all time, which is an exciting thought.”
While gymnastics remains McClenaghan's focus, golf is something he has tried his hand at.
“I've played a little bit of golf, but again it's just one of those games where you've got to set aside a whole day," he said.
"I always keep tabs on what Rory's doing. I think it's cool to follow any sportsperson that is doing well from this country at a high level.”
The man from Newtownards isn’t only picking up silverware as a gymnast, in March he left a TV audience in rapture after winning Dancing with the Stars.
With the Red Bull Dance Your Style returning to Ireland next month, does McClenaghan fancy breaking out the dancing shoes again?
"Yeah, I'd love to see it," he said. "I love any kind of dance, watching it.
"Doing [Dancing with the Stars] really made me appreciate dance in its entirety, no matter what it was – ballroom, Latin dance, or even just being able to talk with the different Red Bull breakdancers.
"And there are a lot of parallels between dance and gymnastics, so if there's an event coming up in Ireland any time, I'll certainly be at it."
